Beaches, safari, museums, castles, mountain villages and more......

  • Beaches - the beaches of the Mediterranean are an easy day trip from Lo Boix.  Whilst there are many to choose from, here are a couple that we like:
    • Les Muscleres Platja - a nice beach in Spain with a couple of restaurants near to St Marti d'Empuries, about 1.5 hours from Lo Boix.  You can park in the woods near to the roman ruins which are also worth visiting.  Note: as you come into the town follow the signs for the ruins not the beach, you can then park in the beach car park in the woods.  For more information on the Roman Ruins - http://www.macempuries.cat/  It can get very busy in the summer so you should aim to get there earlier in the morning
    • Plage de Paulilles - small beach in France about 80 mins drive from Lo Boix
  • Safari - located between Narbonne and Perpignan and approximately 1.5 hours from Lo Boix, the Réserve Africaine de Sigean has more than 3000 animals.  https://www.reserveafricainesi...
  • Villages, towns, museums, forts and more.......
    • St Laurent-de-Cerdans - this is the closest town to Lo Boix, approximately 15 minutes drive.  There is a supermarket (Huit a Huit), a bakery and a factory (with shop) weaving traditional catalan cloth - https://www.toiles-du-soleil.c...
    • Ceret - 45 minutes from Lo Boix, Ceret is a charming old town with a weekly market on Saturday mornings.   In addition to numerous shops and restaurants it boasts a museum of modern art: https://www.musee-ceret.com/
    • Arles sur Tech - a small town 25 minutes from Lo Boix, Arles has a beautiful Abbey:  https://www.tourism-mediterran...
    • Prats de Mollo - a historic walled town on the banks of the Tech river with a fortified tunnel to Fort Lagarde (see below).  There are also a number of nice restaurants in the main square.  It is around 30 minutes from Lo Boix.
    • Fort Lagarde - the fort is reached by a steep climb, either via an external path or through an underground fortified tunnel, from the town of Prats de Mollo.  The fort itself is partially restored and offers great views from the top of the tallest tower.  During the summer months there are historic re-enactments on certain days.  https://www.pratsdemollolapres...
    • Collioure - an exceptionally picturesque town on the coast close to the Spanish boarder with a pebble beach.  There are numerous shops and restaurants - but it can get very busy during the summer months
    • Dali Theatre Museum, Figueres - this is a day trip but well worth it.  Around 1 hour and 10 minutes from Lo Boix, the Dali Theatre Museum is unlike anything else you will have seen......  https://www.salvador-dali.org/...
